Review Process
General Issues of Review Process
Panitera: Journal of Law and Islamic Law exclusively publishes original manuscripts. Each paper should be unpublished or under consideration elsewhere when it is uploaded. Any inconvenience is solely the responsibility of the writers. The online feature should be used to upload all papers. This method allows authors to keep track of their writings. The writers waive and transfer all copyrights to the paper when their submissions are approved. The writers, on the other hand, are responsible for the legal and ethical aspects of the texts. Before beginning the peer-review process, all papers are subjected to an editorial evaluation. When papers fail to meet the journal's reviewing requirements, they are returned to the writers.
Since Panitera: Journal of Law and Islamic Law currently accepts articles in English, writers who are not native English speakers must have their manuscripts checked by a native English speaker before submitting them. All articles submitted for review must be clear of linguistic mistakes and prepared in strict accordance with the most recent edition of the APA style, and they must not have been submitted to any of journal reviewers for assessment; consequently, they will not be selected for publishing. It is entirely the author's obligation to follow the guidelines and inspect for any mistakes. When articles comply with author guidelines, they are submitted to at least two reviewers. The corresponding editor makes the ultimate judgment based on the remarks of the referees. Following approval, the writers are emailed a pdf copy of the paper for proofreading. Minor revisions to the texts may be required by the writers. They then have 72 hours to resubmit this revision to the editing board.
Review Process
All articles submitted to Journal of Law and Islamic Law are subjected to a completely blinded peer review process in which the authors' identities are deleted from the articles in order to generate an anonymous version. The peer review procedure is divided into two stages: editorial review and blinded peer review.
Editorial Review
The editor department initially analyzes uploaded papers in terms of template usage, topic, writer instructions, and English competency.
As a consequence of this review, three judgments are possible:
- Rejection by an editor;
- Begin the peer review process.
Requesting that the authors amend their submissions in light of the editorial suggestion(s), and - Resubmitting the corrected version
The editorial review procedure usually takes three weeks, but owing to queues, it might take much longer.
Blinded Peer Review
Each submission is forwarded to at least two reviewers for scientific review before being accepted for publication in Journal of Law and Islamic Law. The reviewers evaluated, examined, and analyzed the text anonymously using the following criteria:
- The objective's clarity
- Originality of the problem
- A survey of the literature and a theoretical framework
- Methodology/design of research
- The findings' presentation, fluency, and consistency
- The level of conversation
- Significance for future law and Islamic law field.
- The manuscript's strengths and weaknesses.
Given the judgments and comments of the reviewers, the appointed Associate Editor takes a decision on the manuscript (Accept, Minor modifications, Major revisions, Reject and Resubmit, and Reject) and notifies the corresponding author of the review findings.
If the manuscript requires significant adjustments, the editor evaluates the amendments and makes a decision without seeking additional peer review. Except for rejection, all edited and re-submitted articles are subjected to another round of blinded peer-review. As a result, following the second round of peer review, the associate editor makes a final choice. Accepted papers are forwarded to the author(s) for revision and publishing approval. The writers must have their papers checked by a competent editing agency during this procedure. The evaluation procedure takes between 6 and 12 months.
